Listening to the interview on ABC radio broadcast on Wednesday the 30th January http://web.mac.com/michael_cowling/clssy_IT/Podcasts/Entries/2008/1/30_ABC_Breakfast_radio the topic looked at different technology in the classroom. Can mobile phones benefit us in the classroom? Or will they become a hindrance? And will this idea become a social challenge between students.

Michael Cowelling a IT teacher believes it can be beneficial in poetry, by having students podcast poetry to their mobile phones. This I believe adds excitement to the students learning. Students are able to mix technology and poetry writing, adding music, and videos to this traditional type of writing. It is also socially beneficial for students to share their learning’s with friends and family. Students are excited about their work and can celebrate their knowledge with their audience. However there is the other view of the hierarchical status of students, what type of mobile phone they will have, and that is if they have one at all. I believe there would need to be some rules and regulations for the use of mobile phones in the classroom. With this in place it would be very beneficial to student learning.
